Today we visited Cragside for a family walk round the red Gun route.

We’ve done the three mile Gun route which starts close to the main house a couple of times. It’s an interesting and varied route, from cobbled stones to springy moss underfoot (boggy in places when raining), and lots of rock formations. The playpark is shut, but the toilets and coffee hut next to it are open.
What I like at Cragside is there are several walking routes which you can link up to suit. Today there were lots of fallen pine needles and the smell of these in the rain was so refreshing.
