Summer 2019: Day 37 – Filey, Flamborough Head, and Bridlington
This summer I’ve posted what we’ve been up to each day of the school holidays – you can see a summary of our adventures at our 2019: 42 Days of Summer page.
After breakfast, we said goodbye to the cousins and set off for Bridlington to stay with friends who are looking after one of their friend’s B&B (and dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pigs and fish) for a week.
It’s been another scorcher of a day so we stopped at Filey to check out the beach and go in the free paddling pool.
We then visited Flamborough Head South Landing Car park where we walked to a white pebbled beach. The water looked turquoise and none of us could resist another paddle. Boy 2 joined several dogs in diving in for a full on swim
There were several walk options including to Flamborough Head Lighthouse (which you can also drive to) and along the cliffs.
At the car park there was a large Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Discovery Centre room with free craft activities, hands on exhibits, and a dedicated staff member to answer questions.
At Bridlington it’s been great to have a chilled afternoon, and catch up over a pizza tea and the Great British Bake Off.
It’s been interesting to peek behind the scenes at a large and quirky B&B – including seeing the industrial kitchen appliances, massive sink, and drying room with three washing machines/two dryers. I’ve been helping hang and bring washing in, and stroke pets.
Boy 3 has lost his second front tooth just before bed
Have you visited the seaside today? What’s your most memorable B&B stay?
